Memorial Day Weekend

This weekend started out wonderfully & I hope to say it ends wonderfully with a new baby boy as well. But the middle hasn't been so great. The rain on Saturday morning got me up and doing many things around the house like washing sheets and compforter's and vacuming and mopping my kitchen and hardwood floors. It felt great having all of that done before we partied. We headed out to my aunts house around 1 pm to have some fun in the sun! And that we did. I was in the yard dart tournament which was a blast and really made time fly by out in the hot sun for a preggo.

We had so much fun that we didn't end up leaving until around 10:30pm Saturday night. I was so exhausted that I went to bed immediately when we got home, and thank goodness I did, Because I woke up around 3 am feeling HORRIBLE & I just knew I had the stomach bug. I was up all night long so nauseated, but nothing would come up. It was so miserable! I was just praying that I wouldn't wake Jeremy or Maci Rose up. After lying awake and rushing to the bathroom every few minutes until 6:30 am I confirmed that I indeed had some type of bug around 7 this morning. I have not felt good all day long.

I'm just praying that tomorrow will be a better day and that no one else in this house will catch what I've got. I haven't slept at all today either. There is just too much to do and I've surprisingly got the energy to get it done. I've done 6 loads of laundry and I have more cleaning to do tomorrow as well. Tonight is the only night I have to get some sleep before Carter gets here because we will be heading to the hospital tomorrow night around 4:30am.

I'm hoping and planning on blogging from the hospital and posting pics on here of my precious little one, so please check back on Tuesday afternoon sometime. Prayers are greatly appreciated...I'm very excited and nervous! I'm off to get some sleep now. Goodnite!

I will be a mother of 2 next time I log on here!

Frugal Friday

Do you have any candles lying around your house that have lost their wick?  They smell so good and there is still a good amount of candle left on them. I know we have a couple you can have!

If so, turn them into a pin cushion and put it in your sewing kit. What's even better is that it actually works better than the standard stuffed-fabric one because pins and needles with a waxy coating on their tips tend to slide through fabric easier.

And if you don't do any sewing that's fine too, because surely you are looking for a safety pin every now and then or you can stick your earrings in them. Give it a try! It beats a candle just sitting there collecting dust!

So much baseball...

Yesterday I had my last dr.'s visit, as I mentioned before, but when I was leaving Jeremy asked if we wanted to go to the Hoover Met to watch the Alabama/Auburn baseball game. I usually don't go for "unplanned" events, but I was thinking of sun and exercise and quality time with my husband (which I don't get very often). So I took him up on his offer. He took off work for the rest of the day and we went to the games!

It was very very hot and crowded, but eventually we met up with my little sister, who was up in the indoors VIP area with some friends. Her friend Bobby was nice enough to sneak down passes for us to get in free and eat and drink for free. Thanks Bobby!! We really appreciated it!

It was a fun day and good to get out and do something different for once. When we got home, my friend Kristen texted and wanted me to go to Jeremy's baseball game which her husband plays on too. As tired as I was and as filthy as Maci Rose was, we decided to keep the stinky clothes on and go. I had a great time hanging out last night girl!! And Maci Rose loves playing in the dirt, ugh! So thanks for pushing me to go! However, this morning I felt like I had been hit by a car! My neck was sore and my right side??

I may have overdone it a bit yesterday, but Jeremy bathed Maci Rose and got her ready for bed last night so I guess I was a little rewarded in the long run.

Here are a few pics from the games, but my camera died in the first 30 mins we were there. See why I don't like "unplanned" events? Because I wasn't prepared!! Ha!

This little boy kept flirting with her, so we told her to give him a cheezit & she did! It was so funny!
Eww..Look how preggo my face looks! My nose is spreading, only a few more days of this thank goodness!
And notice my husband is wearing an Auburn shirt...boo!

Alabama won 7 - 1 so I was very happy for the rest of the day. Go Bama!!

38 week update

I went to my LAST and FINAL doctors appointment today. Yay!! I weighed 127 lbs and that is the last time I will weigh before labor. That makes my total weight gain 22 pounds just like I gained with Maci Rose. Of course I was 122 lbs when I delivered her but I started at 100 and this time I started at 105. So I'm still bigger this time around. My stomach is measuring 36 weeks which is a little behind, but normal. I have been having horrible braxton hicks contractions for the past 2 days. I HAVE DILATED 1 CM!! I know that's no big deal but it's progress so it made me excited. Overall everything is still looking great and my doctor said she would be at the lake this weekend so I'm really hoping that I will not go into labor and everything will be as planned. I go in at 5am on Tuesday morning and should have baby Carter no later than 8 am. I can't believe we are this close!!

Here are some of my last few belly shots. Enjoy!

Here are Carter (on the left) and Maci Rose's (on the right) 4-d ultrasound pics. Do you think they are going to look alike??
I see some similarites but not too much. I guess we'll find out soon enough!!

A little bit of advice, please?

I know I may be set up for a huge disappointment, but I'm open to all ideas and tips. PLEASE!!

One week from today I will be going in to have my SECOND child! While I was sooo excited at this point for Maci Rose, I find myself way more scared this time around. I mean don't get me wrong I'm excited about not having to be pregnant anymore and to meet and love on my little boy, but my nerves seem to be getting the best of me lately.

That is why I'm hoping that someone out there who reads my blog with 2 or more children can give me some great advice to calm my nerves. ANY advice would be great, but here are a few of the questions I have...

1.) Where do you put the baby to take a shower or use the bathroom so that he's safe from your 2 year old who I'm sure will be trying to get him out?

2.) Since newborns are in the doctor so much in the first few months of their lives for shots, is it best to get a sitter for your other child? or make your husband come along? Can I handle both of them at the germy doctor's office by myself and is it worth trying?

3.) Where and when do you nap with a 2 year old who is a hit and miss with naps these days and if I do fall asleep who knows what she could get into while I'm knocked out?

4.) I already have people constantly asking to take Maci Rose somewhere, such as my neighbors house, friends house, and my family, should I send her every time? I know my first reaction is yes and to get rid of her so I can get something done or sleep, but will I make her feel like Carter has taken her place in the house by sending her out all the time??

5.) How long do I need to expect and prepare myself to get my body back after it stretches for the 2nd time? Will it be as easy as it was after having Maci Rose?

6.) AND last but not least, this one doesn't seem to have a care in the world for what's about to happen, is there anything else I can do to try to prepare her at this point?

Ramblings of a preggo...

Well another weekend has flown by!!

I had a blast seeing and catching up with all my old high school friends at Leslie's bridal shower on Saturday. She had a great shower and got some pretty cool gifts. And not to mention YOU look AMAZING Leslie!! Less than a month before you are Mrs. Pittman!! How exciting!!

After the shower I hung out at my parents house and we had a blast getting my dad on facebook and getting people to be his friend. I guess you had to be there, but my family can be really fun and funny when my siblings are in town and we all get together relaxed and slap happy on a Saturday night. Maci Rose also adds to the humor too. She's pretty funny these days!

Sunday, after church, we all went to LAPAZ (yum!! my fav!! so thanks everyone for letting me pick!) to eat with all of my dads side of the family. They (Katie) wanted to see my bump one last time before I go in to have this little one. Plus, who knows when I'll be able to get out like this again with a newborn.

I think it's funny to compare the 2 pregnancies in these last few weeks. With Maci Rose I had everything done and completely ready before I got to this point. I was just sitting around counting down the minutes everyday till she got here. It seemed like eternity!!

With Carter, even if I had everything clean and ready at this point, (which I don't) I have a live- in terrorist sweetheart who makes sure to keep me busy. I have way more laundry to do than before. I swear I feel like she's messier at 2 than she was at 1 because she thinks she's 5 and can do everything on her own these days. For example, when she has a dirty diaper and I don't catch it in time she slides her pull up down like panties and changes herself except its a lot messier than if I were to do it if you know what I mean. I am constantly wiping down walls with hand prints on them from cheese curls and popsickles because she WILL NOT sit in one place (like a high chair or booster) and eat anymore. Oh and last week we had a huge ordeal for her coloring all over the tv and speakers in the loft. Jeremy about had a fit when he saw it! I mean doesn't she understand I'm 38 weeks pregnant?? I think she thinks its fun to see me at work!

This week is going to be absolutely crazy for me! I can only imagine that next Tuesday will be here before I can blink. I have to work tomorrow, so Maci Rose is going to school and I may send her in a bubble. I know that sounds crazy but I can't afford for her to get sick at this point. I have a doctors appointment on Wednesday, my parents anniversary is Friday and my brother's graduation party is Saturday. On top of that, all of my favorite shows are either just beginning this week or it's the finale show, which is sure to take away a few hours of my nights. We also have a huge pool party at my aunts for Memorial Day this weekend. In between all of that I'm going to try to tackle my list of things to do around this house and hopefully I will not go into labor until every last thing is done.

I've given Jeremy 5 jobs off of my list of about 20 and he says they are the 5 hardest things on the list. Are you serious? Ok, well I'll do the 5 hardest things and you can do the other 20! Deal!!

So here's to the countdown of the last week of pregnancy until the birth of my little boy. We can't wait to meet you!!

Frugal Friday

Eat fresh for less!!

Here are 3 simple ways to save on fresh produce for the hot summer months.

1.) Shake it off!
Fresh fruits and veggies are watered a lot in the stores to make them look more refreshing and plump, but if you're buying by the pound that extra water can add up. A couple of simple shakes can save a few extra pennies towards your grocery bill.

2.) Buy from the bar!
Not sure if every grocery store has this option, but I know most Piggly Wiggly's have wonderful salad/fruit/soup bars. If you need something small for a recipe- like fresh spinach- you can just buy the amount you need off the salad bar and save yourself a couple of bucks and avoid wasting the rest of the package. Also, if you are craving strawberries and whipped cream and are like me, I tend to crave them for one day and I buy a crate of strawberries to fulfill my craving. Then a week later I end up throwing out the squished and rotten strawberries I never got to because it's one of those foods you want really bad one day and then forget about them. Instead, buy one serving of them off the salad/fruit bar and you can save money and avoid wasting the rest.

3.) Weigh your best options!
On fruits and veggies that are hollow inside, such as peppers, buy the bigger ones because they all weigh about the same since they mainly consist of seeds inside. You can get the bigger ones for the same amount as the smaller ones. Also, heads of lettuce and cabbage and other items that have one set price, find the biggest one and you'll get more for your money.

Hope that helps you save a few extra bucks from your grocery bill this summer! I sure know our grocery bill is going to be very tight in a little over a week with 2 kids in diapers and buying formula!! I'm up for any other suggestions on how to get more for your money. Let me know if you have some money saving tips please!!!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

A fun questionaire

A fun little pregnancy questionaire!!

Have you picked out a name? Yes, Carter.

How far along: 37.5  Weeks

Total weight gain/loss? 21 pounds

Maternity clothes? Mainly t-shirts and sundresses

Stretch marks? A few on my hips from Maci Rose, but no new ones.

Sleep? Surprisingly yes. He is going to bald like Maci Rose, because I've had no heartburn AT ALL the whole pregnancy.

Best moment last week? Ultrasound. Finding out how big he is right now.

Least favorite moment last week? My doctor wasnt there for my routine visit.

Movement? Very jerky movements. Maci Rose was way more peaceful. Carter hurts me! My rib cage is bruised.

Food cravings? popsickles!

Gender? Boy

Labor signs? Really bad cramps lately. I don't remember these with Maci Rose, but I've had people tell me the pain before and after labor is worse with the second child. Lower back pain.

Belly button in/out? In. Almost gone.

What I miss? My body. Being able to wear cute clothes. My smaller/cuter bras.

What I am looking forward to: Birth!! Meeting my little man!

Milestones: walking on my treadmill at least 5 days a week and trying to get at least an hour in a day. Some days it's more and some days it's less. Cleaning, cleaning, and more cleaning!

An updated pic of his room.
Here are the letters I painted minus the last R. I have checked Michaels every week for the past month and a half. They said they have 6 of them ordered so I'm going to check back again tomorrow. I pray I have luck this time because time is running out!

37 weeks

Today I had my 37 week visit. I have dilated a half cm. Not too much going on as far as that is concerned. Baby is still head down. I've lost a pound & weigh 126 lbs which once again makes my total weight gain 21 pounds at this point. Lately I've had horrible lower back pain that makes me nautious and I have a smaller appetite. My stomach measures the same as last week and is probably not going to change much at this point.

On a more personal note, I can no longer hold my bladder and it's pretty embarrassing. I have to make sure I have a bathroom near at all times. I feel like a little kid potty training! My sleep has actually been great considering the extra weight and belly out front! I have been up until 11 or 12 every night watching tv and cleaning and just finding it hard to wind down and get comfortable, but as soon as I do fall asleep I seem to sleep hard & when I wake up I feel well rested.

I only have one more dr. visit (fingers crossed) before I go in to have him. I can't believe I have less than 2 weeks before Carter gets here! It's so close!!

I have a laundry list of things that need to get done around my house including lysoling down EVERYTHING, washing sheets and couch cushions, and cleaning tubs, sinks, and toilets!! Wears me out just thinking about it.

(I'll spare you any belly shots until the night before I deliver.)

A Big Thank You!!

Jeremy's work has overdone it again! They gave us a huge basket full of all sorts of baby items. Cute outfits, his first pair of jeans, large pump baby lotions and shampoo, onesies, burp cloths, receiving blankets, bath towels, a teddy bear, p.j.'s, and a card with money signed by everyone in the department. I can not say THANK YOU enough! I loved reading all you comments on the card. Ya'll are sooo sweet! We are so blessed to have wonderful people like you in our lives!

                                                                   His first pair of jeans!

Maci Rose was also overwhelmed by your generosity!

Frugal Friday

Last week's post was about a way to SAVE money and this weeks is about an easy way to MAKE money!

I'm sure most of you have a garage, attic, closet, etc. full of things you don't necessarily need. It's time to have a yard sale! The average profit from a weekend-long yard sale is $600!

Here are some ways to boost your sales:

1.) Get with some friends and have a multi-family sale. It reduces the amount of competition out there and most people get really excited to go to large sales with duplicate items. Also, it reduces the amount of work YOU have to do if you can split it up with other people involved.

2.) Make it a theme based sale. If you have a majority of baby stuff or Christmas stuff, books, kitchen stuff then write that on the sign. People who are looking for that specific item will stop by and it will attract more people.

3.) Throw in freebies! Go and buy a pack of those white powdered doughnuts or make some lemonade and hand them out after they make a purchase. Or take those little toys you are always stepping on and tripping over around the house and put them in a box and let children take them for FREE.  Parents will appreciate the fact that their child is entertained while they shop. It's another incentive to make them buy.

4.) Use ORANGE signs with bold black letters. Orange automatically shows vibrancy and cheer and will get more looks on the side of the road. And if your wording isn't visible most people won't turn around to read it.

5.) Keep an extension cord close by. If you're selling anything electronic, buyers will probably want to test it first and if they have to wait for you to find a plug they might walk away.

6.) The best times, especially this time of year, are on Friday and Saturday mornings and starting early before it gets too hot outside.

7.) Pretty obvious...but make sure to put the bigger and better items out front for those that drive by trying to decide if they actually want to stop.

So start trying to gather stuff a little at a time and see if you can con some friends into doing it with you. You can also try to get your whole neighborhood involved. That way each person can set up their own garage and driveway with their own items. And a neighborhood yard sale is sure to swoop in lots of people.

Who wouldn't want to make over $500 and get rid of clutter around your house?

"COCK a lulu"

Ok if that doesn't get your attention then what will??

At the doctor's office today Maci Rose started saying very loudly in a high pitched voice..
"COCKA...lu...lu, COCKA...lu....lu!"

Ok I know we've practiced all the regular animal sounds...a cow, dog, cat, bird, pig, etc., but WHO IN THE WORLD TAUGHT HER A ROOSTER??

You can imagine the looks I got. I couldn't help but laugh a little and say yes Maci that's right. That's what a rooster says (In the nicest mommy voice). HAHA! Kids, you gotta love them!

Stay tuned for my frugal friday post, there's a little twist to it from last weeks.

36 Weeks

Well today I had my 36 week appointment. I've gained a pound which makes my total weight gain 22  lbs so far. I weigh 127 lbs, which is a lot to me but I started at 105 so if I can stay under 130 I'll be happy. Of course I only weighed 122 lbs when I delivered Maci Rose, but I started at around 100 pounds, so I was heavier to begin with this one. My stomach is measuring 36 cm which is exactly what it's supposed to be. Baby's heartbeat was in 130's again. Overall everything looks good.

A few dissapointments though...

First, I was scheduled to meet with my regular doctor today, but she had an emergency c-section come up and was not in the office when I got there. Therefore, I had to see a male doctor I've never met before who did my strep B test, embarrassing! and he said there was no reason for him to check my cervix for dilation and to wait until I could see my regular doctor next week. So I don't know if anything is going on in there as far as that goes.

Second, I had an ultrasound today and everything is looking good & HEALTHY so I shouldn't complain, but the pics just weren't what I had expected. Maci Rose's were so clear and this little boy is so cramped in there that we couldn't even hardly see a side profile because his face is pressed up against me. Also his feet were so much in my rib cage she could hardly get his little toes on the picture. His boy part looks HUGE!!  That is like the only thing we could actually see clearly. Haha!
He is in head down position and should stay that way at this point. He weighs 5 lbs. 14 oz. already and should gain about a 1/2 pound for the next 3 weeks so I'm thinking he'll be close to 7.5 lbs. The doctor said almost 6 lbs at 36 weeks is a pretty good size baby, so he may be big.

And Third, I had originally wanted my c-section on June 2nd (which is my grandfather, who passed away last October's b'day) but my doctor is already booked for 2 surgeries that day so I'm scheduled for June 1st at 5am. That is less than 3 weeks away. It's the morning after Memorial Day, so I'm really starting to get nervous. Can I handle 2 kids on my own??

Below I've posted some of our ultrasound pics and my 36 week belly shots... My stomach is soo hard these days it's hard for me to bend or do much. This sounds horrible, but I feel like he could fall out of my crouch at any point. It's so heavy down there. He's hanging out between my legs.

                                                                  That's his wee-wee
This is kind of hard to see, but it's looking at his face upwards, you can see up his nostrils and his lips
Another pic of his face, if you can make it out
His foot, toes are cramped into my rib cage
36 weeks straight on
Side view
This may be the last of the belly shots. It's just too gross to me. Yuck! I'm ready to post my sweet baby boy's pics, enough of me!

Who do you think she looks like?

I'm sure all you moms out there can relate on how many times people comment on your childs looks. Who does she look like? She must look like your husband? Where does she get that curly hair? What color eyes does she have? She doesn't even look like your child!

Well before you are so judgemental you may want to see baby pictures!! Believe it or not people change over the years! Hair can change color, texture, etc. Sun exposure and tanning beds can change skin color and your overall face shape and nose can change as well.

With that being said, here are Jeremy and my 2 year old pics. I will not tell you who to think she looks like. We have our opinions and you are entitled to your own! And she has both of us in her in personality so that can sometimes alter her look in our eyes!

(Sorry about the quality of the pics, I don't have a scanner).

                                                                    my 2 year old pic

Jeremy's 2 year old pic

And then there is my little sister Aimee who many people think she looks like too....

There is no doubt that she doesn't have my coloring, but is it Jeremy's? I have brown eyes and Jeremy has blue. Maci Rose has a greyish/hazel color. I would say she is me from the eyes up and Jeremy from the nose down, but everyone sees differently, so I'll leave it up to you!

Mother's Day!

I had a wonderful Mother's day. It started off by surprising my mother-in-law (who was in tears) when we showed up to go to church with her and Jeremy's family. We are Catholic and they are Baptist so this is not a normal Sunday tradition for her to have her son and granddaughter in church with her.

We then headed to my grandmother's house for lunch and to celebrate Mother's day with her and my mom and aunts. Then I got to relax the rest of the afternoon myself hanging out around my aunts pool with all my cousins.

Jeremy got me the perfect present too.....a very sweet card and three $10 Subway gift cards. I eat subway almost every single day so that was a great gift to me! I also go a framed caricature portrait of Maci Rose that I love. We took her to Homestead Hollow on Friday and she had her picture drawn and then Jeremy got it framed for me. I love it!! and it's already made it on my wall!

On our way to Homestead Hollow
Here is the framed caricature portrait. I think they did a great job considering it's hard to keep a 2 year old's attention sitting in a chair for 30 minutes!
Jumping in the moonwalk
Petting the horses
Hanging out around my aunts pool. I am a horrible mom, I forgot to bring her bathing suit so she had to go in just a swimmers diaper. Oops!
I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day as well!

Congrats Matt!

Congratulations to my brother Matt for graduating law school on Saturday!! And on top of that he graduated in the top 15 of his class! What an honor!! And this is the highest degree of education of anyone in my family. So proud of you Matt! Now I wish you luck on finding a good job and hopefully somewhere in Birmingham, because I don't know how Maci Rose will deal with having her godfather not around to come play with her. She constantly asks "Where's Matt Matt?" Good luck!  I love you!

Celebrating afterwards!
Matt and his cute girlfriend Christina!

Frugal Friday

I'm starting a new thing! Considering I'm 30 pounds overweight, can't see my swollen feet and can hardly do anything without moving my belly out of the way, I've been reading a lot of blogs lately. Some of the people I know and some are completely random. I have so much to learn about this blog world. Buttons?? How cool! I want one! And I would love to install some computer program to a photoshop or way to have a cool heading like a lot of other blogs have.

Unfortunately, I'm about to have a newborn! And I'm sure most of you know what that means...no sleep, no food, no make-up, no sex, & no TIME!  I don't want to be one of those bloggers that will not update my blog until my child is 6 months old and try to recap everything over those 6 months. I'm going to do whatever I can to continue to keep you posted on what's going on around here, especially for my MN relatives. I want to learn so much more about this blog stuff though.. So do I start now?? I guess it's better now than never at all!

I've seen "messy mondays", thankful on a thursday, and flashback fridays, so I've decided to do a new "frugal friday" post. I've been out of my job now for about 5 months and while I'm not completely a stay at home mom, since I'm in grad school, I'm not a working mom either. And with our checkbooks being tighter than ever I've been having to come up with some ways to save money. And slowly but surely getting the hang of it. I figured every Friday I will do a post about some way to save money or live eco friendly. I'm sure some of you stay at home moms have figured out a few tricks along the way and I'd love to hear if you have any suggestions along the way. I'm open to new ideas!!

So with that being said, here's to  a new posting trend that I pray will continue even when I'm so sleep deprived that I'm walking into walls.

My first frugal Friday post is about those who have a new baby on the way or even young children. There are all kind of websites that you can go and sign up for and they send you free samples of baby items and coupons. I've done a p & g website with pampers that has sent me a sample of a new diaper they have on the market, "Enjoytheriderewards" program with Huggies where you can even use your points to enter contests such as winning a new mini van, etc.

But the one I love the most and it helped so much with Maci Rose is the gerber plan. A lot of you know, my grandmother kept MR while I worked. and don't get me wrong, she has kept all of us and many other of my cousins, and even one of my friends that we can to realize later, so she has some experience under her belt. With that being said, she always does things her way whether you like it or not and so as a first time mother I almost had a heart attack a few times. Like when i walked in to pick her up at 5 months old and she was sitting in her high chair eating KIX!! What?? No teeth! My grandmother calmly said she sucks them down until they are soft enough to swallow, don't worry!! DON'T WORRY?? Are you kidding me?

But there are other things she's done like water color painting and play dough at a year old and even teaching her to write her name and distinguishing the different power ranger colors that I must say have made Maci Rose one heck of a smart kid. She's very advanced in those ways. So thanks grandma! Even though I may have had some heart problems along the way ha!!

Ok, back to the gerber plan...they send you coupons in the mail that come with a little book with great advice as to what your child SHOULD be eating at a certain age or some of the activities they should be doing. etc. They start with pregnancy info and coupons, move to newborn, then supported sitter, sitter, crawler, toddler, and preschooler. Maci Rose is in the toddler phase and has been for about a year now and we haven't seen the pamplets or coupons coming in as often, but during the first year of their life you are getting stuff almost every month.

Another incentive with these coupons, is if you cut out the bar codes on the gerber products you buy and send in 10 of them they will send you a whole book of coupons again. They like to see that they are getting use obviously and we definitely used them. If you've never gone down the baby isle and tried gerber graduates little crunchies in the cheese flavor you don't know what you're missing!! Maci Rose and I both benefitted from those things. They taste like cheese curls and they virtually have hardly any fat and calories. I believe you can eat the entire can for around 200 cals.

So go and google the huggies, pampers, and gerber graduates (Start Healthy, Stay Healthy) websites and sign up for all the free goodies and coupons you can. Also, enter the contests, you never know you may win a new car in the meantime!!
